For Covid College Students

This year was meant for

classrooms and futons,

late nights and lazy breakfasts,

the sloppy proximity of

growing up together.

This year was meant for

trying and risking and

rising from grand mistakes -

for singing songs written for

your freedom and invincibility.

Bless you, Resilient One.

For the growing up and

brave attempts you dare anyway,

for the relentless hope and

holy possibility you continue to offer

this family and the whole the world.

This year is meant for

your coming of age and your visions

of a future unmasked, revealed

for what has suffered and

what can be healed, even still.
